The ô in rôle has (had) a circumflex over it because that's how it's spelled, particularly in this particular sense. Role is another spelling. I'd be surprised if your dictionary didn't offer both alternatives - mine do. - Nunh-huh 22:43, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] We need a better source for his family life
Right now we're using TV.com for as a reference for him adopting his grandson. Last I checked that site was user edited and not generally considered a valid source (except for their links to external news articles). Just throwing the note up here so someone can beat me to this.
