French language

Sorry, I'd just like to make it clear that Tina does not in fact speak French fluently. She's at best competent, but far from fluent. If you download her interviews at http://www.tinaarenaonline-france.com/ (in particular the one titled 'L'invité') you will understand.

I am not fluent so I cannot gage how fluent she is. How is she not fluent? Is it her grammar mistakes or does she struggle to say what she wants to say?

Vocal profile

Could someone help me with a 'vocal profile" for Tina? She also has an incredible range! Mseames

I agree! Tina has an awesome vocal range! Try listening to most of her "In Deep" songs and you'll know.

I wonder how many octaves can her voice reach. That would be cool to know.

I wouldn`t classify her as spinto - sound would be more like C. aguilera or Monica Naranjo than - both totally spinto sopranos - "metal - timbre". Vernacular, and U.S. chart claim

The phrase "pole position" (not "poll position") means #1. I changed the sentence but if she did indeed remain at #1 for "well over a year," please change it back (with the appropriate spelling). I also changed the wording of the sentence about Mick Jones' production bringing her success on the U.S. charts, because this is not borne out by the chart figures shown here for that album. In this interview, it says Don't Ask sold 2 million, a bit more than the 1.3 in the bio. I know it's copied off her website tho. Un autre univers

Could someone say where they got the 3xPlatinum figures for Un autre univers? The SNEP website only lists it at Platinum. But they only list certifications at the end of the year, so the only way it would be possible is if it was just certified this year. But as of 2007, the SNEP website states its highest sales at Platinum. One of 5 Non-French Artists to Sell a Million Copies in France False

I've seen this quoted for years and always wondered the validity of this claim. Tina has had strong sales in France. She has come close to a million selling record with "Aller plus haut" and "In Deep." However, she's one of MANY artists to claim this feat.

Other artists include ABBA (Gold), Ace of Base (Happy Nation), Mariah Carey (Music Box), Tracy Chapman's debut, Phil Collins (But Seriously, Serious Hits...Live), Cranberries (No Need to Argue), Celine Dion (Falling Into You, Let's Talk About Love), Dire Straits (Brothers in Arms, Money For Nothing, On Every Street), Dido (No Angel), Eagles (Hotel California), Fugees (the Score), Michael Jackson (Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, Thriller), Norah Jones (Come Away With Me), Madonna (the Immaculate Collection, True Blue), Moby (Play), Nirvana (Never Mind), Pink Floyd (The Wall, Wish You Were Here), Queen (Greatest Hits Vol 2), Simon & Garfunkle (Greatest Hits, The Concert in Central Park, The Definitive), Spice Girls (Spice).

This info is easily verifiable. So you see, she is not one of just 5 artists to sell a million copies in France. She's one of many respectable artists to achieve this.
