i know there weren't horses before columbus, but did Native americans have dogs before then? i would guess yes....Gzuckier 19:30, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Yes, dogs were the main domesticated pack animal in North America before European contact. Eskimo dogs, Tahl Tan bear dogs, chihuahuas, Mexican hairless dogs, and Carolina dogs are all examples of indigenous dog breeds.
