Noticable persons involved in tricking

Is there some reason why Joe Eigo is repeatedly being added and removed from this list? And what about Amir Solsky? To avoid edit wars, could people please explain why they are repeatedly adding/removing particular people. Sticksoft 12:10, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

Good question man. The reason is, and I am pretty confident about this, is because many tricksters have a personal dislike of Joe Eigo. It is not very rational behavior to remove him from the list for a person dislike though. Also, I want it to be clear that I have added nor removed Joe Eigo's name from the list, but I too have noticed his name continually being added and removed. Many feel he should not be considered a trickster but just a gymnast. They feel he is greedy and does not have the frame of mind most tricksters have. They feel that instead of just loving tricking for what it is, he tries to make money with his skills and all that. Anyways, he is still a notable person regardless of what people think of him, and therefore, I feel his name should be kept on the list.

On another topic, I feel Dave C should be added to the list. He may not be as well known to the public as some of those other names are, but in actuality none of those names are well known to the general public. Tricking is still very underground. But Dave C is a true trickster. He has a heart for tricking like no other and he has shown this through the samplers he has made. Sure you could say anyone has heart for tricking, but it's hard to explain. I know I probably sound opinionated, but honestly, I think that any of you who actually know of Dave C would know what I'm talking about. Therefore, I am adding his name to the list. Someone removed Joe Eigo AND Dave C now. Should we jut remove the "notable person involved with tricking" section all together? I feel it may be too opinionated of a section and just not necessary. To be honest, the page is a mess at the moment - removing one section probably won't help much. Perhaps each person should have a brief biography attached, making it obvious why they are in the list. However, we certainly don't need people warring over a list of names when the article is in such need of tidying up and expanding.

On that note, I propose that there should be a new section on tricking events (Loopkicks, etc.) and a list of any moves that are unique to tricking (not borrowed from other sports). I would also like the article to mention that (as far as I know) there are no formal regulations or governing bodies for tricking - like there are for most other sports - and perhaps work out a definition / list of criteria for what makes a 'good' trick. This might be in a new section on the aims of tricking. Any objections?

Right on Sticksoft! I like the way you think, you have a clear view point and some great ideas. We could even do definitions for tricking moves. Of course www.neokarate.net already has definitions and www.club540.com even has clips, but they are still lacking many moves and many defintions are not very good. If you check out "List of breakdance moves" I helped do a lot of that and practically did the entire Flips section by myself. Anyways, I feel this article for Tricking could be way better than it is as of now.

I really like that biography idea by the way. Maybe some time I'll work on that, but as of now I am currently already working on other projects in my life so I don't know how much time I could devote to this, but I'll try to help though. Jamesters 03:52, 15 October 2005

Okay, I've made a start on the new sections. I've searched for info on Loopkicks, but can't find much more than when and where it is held, and the names of the instructors. I know that there are other tricking camps out there - I just can't seem to find much info about them. The 'Aims of Tricking' section could do with a little work, as well. When I have time, I'm going to go through each of the tricks on club540 and try to find out if they are unique to tricking. I've added some biography links in the list of notable trickers - hopefully someone will use the information in the links to make useful biographies for each individual. Having said that, it was only 4 hours until someone wrecked the list again, so I don't hold out much hope. If the minor edit war we have here escalates any further, I think it would be wise to protect the page for a while, until we can agree as to the contents of the list. OK, I'm going to completely remove the "notable persons" section and any names without a reason for being there. If you feel a name needs to be in the article integrate it as part of a paragraph together with why the person is notable. --Janto 18:56, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Joe Eigo is certainly not a notable tricker. Infact, he isn't a trickster nor has done anything important for tricking. All he does is tumbling, made a little website called multilevelmoves for his resume, and made a few videos. Non-contact?

I know people who do tricking and it isn't all non contact. I've seen one person stand while another person used thier back to kick off from into a back flip. I have updated this section to better reflect on the non-combatant nature of tricking and provide examples of tricks involving more than one person. I agree: it's not necisarily void of contact, but tricking is definetly not a sparring sport. Mooreshire 05:49, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I fixed most of this

I clarified the history of tricking on the NASKA circuit, mentioned people's names who actually contributed, noted Ernie Reyes and the WCAT, further developed parts of the article, removed some BS, talked about the expansion of tricking with the internet revolution, mentioned classic websites most people have forgotten about, fixed general grammar and punctuation problems, and tried to make it generally less crappy. Gatherings

I gave this a quick little rewrite as the original info wasn't really set up very well. I have started a table of "annual gatherings" if this is used it could be nice and useful we need to add more gatherings though NY, TXT Hurricanes? Still it's not really written too well. The table of annual gatherings needs to be updated. There were quite a few gatherings hosted in 2010 and there's even a few more on the way. The few I know of are: Loopkicks camp 2010, Trickadelphia, Epic Gathering, NY Gathering, and Florida Gathering. Also, the table should include more teams and their gatherings. For example, TXT and NTBS, who will also be hosting 2010 gatherings in the near future. In addition, there are also mini-gatherings that should be included or have a table of their own. Nearly every year Team Loopkicks hosts holiday events such as: Back to School Session, Trix 'N Treats, Trixgiving, Trixmas, and Valentine's Tricking Session. At these mini gatherings the team teaches trickers new tricks and combos that are equivalent to their skill level. TJ Trotter (talk) 21:20, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

A non-notifiability objection is adequate to remove it, unless the one who added them can supply evidence for why they are relevant to the tricking culture (perhaps a newspaper article mentioning them in affiliation with the word 'tricking' from a major newspaper) then it makes sense to remove them or lessen their mention to being alongside other teams of similar notability. Feel free to take the initiative and remove it yourself, I feel uninformed on matters of Tricking so am not confident to do it myself. I am not sure how many of these are active or relevant, and since the number is growing if anyone has ideas on how to section them that would be useful. Also there are external links seeded throughout the article, I would like some people to help by moving them to the external link section at the bottom. We should strike so only internal links (to other wiki articles) are within the main body of the article. The external links section was tagged for cleanup. I deleted many of the external links, as they were not helpful, nor did they follow the guidelines for external links. I left three good ones. I also changed the see also section to direct to acrobatics instead of "trick" the disambiguation page. It is not proper to direct to a disambiguation page, and acrobatics was a proper alternative. Genre's

As tricking has evolved so have the different types of trickers. Originally, there were only martial arts trickers and gymnastics trickers. But now there are new genres of trickers such as: breakdancer trickers, backyard trickers, high school trickers, and cheerleader trickers. They should also be mentioned on the page. Team Tricking

Not only do trickers make teams and practice together, they also perform together. Many teams choreograph demo's that they perform at events. Not only do the demo's promote their teams, they also bring tricking out into the light for the rest of the world.

Also, at competitions some trickers choose to pair up with other trickers and perform. For example Steve Terada and Rudy Reynon competed together in a (musical) open form. TJ Trotter (talk) 21:40, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Training

Parkour mistake

A lot of people mistake Tricking for parkour and tricking, Parkour is the art of fluid movement threw the urban terrain. History

So what genius butchered the history page? If you have something to add, then add it. Destroying the actual history of Tricking out of spite for the community does no good for anyone.
