The opening phrase has a component that is unclear: "Trypanosomiasis is the name of the diseases caused by parasitic protozoan trypanosomes of the genus trypanosoma in vertebrates." What is the term "vertibrates" doing a the end of the phrase? Certainly the protozoan is not a vertibrate. So is the term there leftover from a reference to the wide range of organisms it can infect or was it supposed to be "invertebrates" but the "in" was separated from "vertibrates" with a space. Even though trypanosomes can are invertebrates, the reference is unnecessary as all protozoans are invertebrates.
It is absolutely clear ,do not look for typographical errors before the facts are confirmed.Vertebrates are the victims or hosts.
The second sentence begins, "More than 66 million women, men, and children..." Why not simplify to "More than 66 million people..." ?
Furthermore, the page on African trypanosomiasis gives a figure of 50,000-70,000, not >66 million. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.119.150.166 (talk) 00:40, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
