| WikiProject To-do list: |
The "to do" list is for uncontroversial tasks. Anything uncertain or controversial should be discussed on the talk page first.
- Articles:
- Work on the stubs. (Pick one that interests you and go for it).
- Improve the key articles - here's some to start:
- Find and upload public-domain pictures to illustrate articles. Sources include:
- Pictures you've taken yourself.
- yotophoto.com - lets you search for free images (check the licence to be sure it's compatible with Wikipedia. Ask for help if you're unsure.)
- US federal government (?)
- Find images (e.g. on an organization's website) and get an explicit statement from the owner that they release the image to public domain, GNU or other suitable licence.
- Categories, linking and organization of articles:
- Tasks related to the WikiProject itself:
- Get this page sorted. See Wikipedia:WikiProject & Wikipedia:WikiProject/Best practices
- Write up the scope on this page (near top); use it to explain this WikiProject at Wikipedia:List of WikiProjects
- Promote the project - don't be pushy, just let people know. Some things to consider:
- People who work (paid or volunteer) in the development field;
- People who are into permaculture or sustainability are often into appropriate technology and concerned about international development, so tell them about this project.
- Politically active people. Many people across the political landscape are concerned about these issues. And they often have email lists or newsletters that you can post a brief notice on.
- Inside Wikipedia: Paste {{WikiProject International development}} on relevant talk pages. If a topic is only marginally related, then just put a note, telling people about it. (Use [[Wikipedia:WikiProject International development]] to link to the project page.

[edit] additional reference
i propose addition of the Afro-Caribbean author Walter Rodney. If there are no objections or alternate suggestions within a fortnight I intend adding a paragraph referring to his publication 'How Europe Underdeveloped Africa' and a brief summary of its main thrust as related to the topic underdevelopment.
- if I am going about this the wrong way please inform.

[edit] Merge with 'developing country'
Why not merge this into 'Developing country' as the content is almost entirely about underdeveloped countries? Seems redundant to have an article about both. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Countermereology (talk • contribs) 15:53, 14 February 2007 (UTC).
Disagree! this is a encyclopedia, not a newspaper. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Marasmus (talk • contribs) 06:11, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
[edit] OR, NPOV
"and then means deliberately created poverty by imperialism,"?? This can't stay unless it's impeccably sourced. Plenty of others too.
[edit] Redirect to/Merge with 'Least developed country' or 'International Development'
This article is tagged for neutrality issues and has the same general content of these articles but lacks neutral discussion of what qualifies a country as 'underdeveloped.'- Added by Nadhika99 (Talk) 06:28, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
