[edit] ..."they are not to be confused"

...but of course a duffer like me does get confused. Bill, is it possible that Romans familiar with the Cispadine Celts of Vettona in Umbria, applied the name to these farflung Celts when they encountered them in deepest Iberia? If this is unlikely, could you expand the text a bit for folks like me? I mean, why are these two groups not to be confused? (You see the primitive level of my understanding.) --Wetman 5 July 2005 20:10 (UTC)

"They are not to be confused with the Vettonenses, inhabitants of Vettona (today's Bettona in Umbria)."

It is like confusing the Veneti of the upper Adriatic with the Veneti of Brittany. Comes under WP:FRINGE because it is so unlikely due to the distal connection required and lack of connections in between.Jembana (talk) 23:24, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

The meaning of Hispano-Celtic has now shifted to mean an older Celtic stratum than Celtiberian to be found in the west of the Iberian peninsula.Jembana (talk) 11:41, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
