  • I think the correct wording would be 'definition of welfare economics' and it should be merged into welfare economics.--Fenice 14:38, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I do not agree with the proposed merger. Welfare economics is a distinct branch of microeconomics. This article is not about welfare economics. Neither is it an attempt to define welfare economics. The author of this article is giving a definition of economics that according to Marshall goes beyond a pure scarcity or efficiency based definition.
