A fine article, which takes an awfull lot a time to read. It has a lot of infortmation on it. On most important topics, much information can be found. Mostly suitably referenced. A fine thing, this way. The tone is quite neutral, with all the respect to this highly important historical subject. I think, it deserves more than just GA-class. -The Bold Guy- 12:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I heard the Nazis banned Hot Cocoa as well as other chocolate products in the territories they conquered. Is this true? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bebeugotback44 (talk • contribs) 20:52, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

To-do list for World War II: edit · history · watch · refresh |
add suggestions here...
- the beginning of the article states that the cause of world war ii is germany's invasion of poland. this would be the beginnig of the european war, not the cause. the cause of the second great war can be traced back to the terms of the treaty of Versailles at the end of the first world war.
-the article on ww2 states that Japan attacked Indochina on july 24, 1941. This was not the case. Under Japanese pressure a treaty was signed that day, allowing Japan to make use of Indochina airbases and such. some fighting along the border did take place the year before.
- Hi there - re: Flags of Combatants in the block on right hand side of WW2 page, shouldn't the correct Japanese flag for the period be the rising sun version, with the Rays coming out of the sun?
++No see Flag of Japan, the version you're talking about is just the naval ensign. Lisiate 20:51, 29 January 2007 (UTC) +++ If it's simple, don't wait - just do it...
- "The enormity of this task cannot be over stated, by the early months of 1944 Britain was a virtual army camp with 3.5 million troops, soldiers, sailors and airmen all training for the mammoth task that lay ahead. British, American, Canadian, Australians and New Zealanders, French, Belgians, Norwegians, Poles and Czechs along with the Dutch, all with the same objective. The Liberation of Europe from the Evil clutches of Hitler's occupation." State the exact amount of troops on both sides of the groups
- Provide the history of the name of the global wars, World War I and World War II ( see "The names of the wars" section in the Talk page of World War I )
- What about Africa?
- A section showing the main fighting forces of each country throughout the war would be helpful
- Updated Link for BBC: World War Two: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/worldwars/wwtwo/
- Split article according to WP:SS. An example on how to split this article is already added there.
- Add use of atom bombs to 'Casualties, civilian impact, and atrocities' section
- Provide information about the Pacific War in South East Asia (Burma, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaya etc) in the Overview - Asia
- Define criteria for inclusion/exclusion from the list of major combatants in the infobox. Discussions are below and in the topical archive.
- Make a inside link to Mein Kampf
- In the holocaust, there is no reference whatsoever to the exterminations of gays and lesbians. There should be a link to the pink triangle.
- Add 2006 PC game "Company of Heroes" to the list of games picturing WWII.
Cleanup
- Chronology section too long.
- References section needs cleanup
- Correct use of English. Americanisms should be used when talking about US theaters, say, the attack on Pearl Harbor, the nuclearization of the Japanese Cities and carrier battles in the Pacific Theater. "British" spellings should be used when referring to the Theatres of Operations in Commonwealth countries or predominantly involving Commonwealth forces, e.g. Norway, Greece, North Africa, France, New Guinea and Burma.
- where possible and accurate, use "Allied" instead of "American"/"U.S.". Few Allied operations involved only American units.
- "British Commonwealth" should be used instead of "British Empire", reflecting the official name in 1926-49, and political arrangements which were instituted in the 1930s
- use "British Commonwealth" or "Allied" instead of "British" where possible, when units from other Commonwealth countries are meant. (This is particularly prevalent in articles on the Middle East/North African campaigns, for some reason.)
- "UK" or "Britain/British" should be used instead of "England/English"
- Look into possible cleanup of language - much of the article reads in a fashion that is, at the very least, not neutral.
- Cleanup and remove non-important pictures.
- Main article needs revising. Parts of it are of low literary quality
- Spelling correction (possible): A minor point, but spelling is inconsistant re: "Theatre" (17 instances) and "Theater" (17 instances also); There may be other similar discrepencies (e.g. color vs colour). Looked at guidelines at "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial_%28Keep_in_mind%29" and I'm not sure if this is intentional or not. In this case (UK and US interests on a single page) I would tend to expect - as in a book - a single style (and this page does end up on the CD).
