[edit] Location of Xunantunich
The location given in the article can't be accurate. It states that it's in Belize, about 80 miles (130 km) west of Belize City. But when I measure that in Google Earth, I find that this puts it 18 miles inside Guatemala. The Border with Guatemala is only about 62 miles (99 km) west of Belize City. -- MiguelMunoz 06:26, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hm. Possibly 80 miles by road? -- Infrogmation 10:52, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
I was just in Belize at the ruin site. It is NOT 18 miles from the boarder, regardless of what the Google Earth measurments are. We went to Guatamala after the site. It is just under 3 miles away. But the entire site extends 3km in each direction from the main plaza. So, depending upon where they measure it from it could be in Guatamala. As for the distance to Guatamala, 62 miles is as the crow flies. Actual distance by auto would be farther.
