The references section of this article is a total mess. I'm really not sure what is being referenced by what, and as far as I can tell there's no reference at all for the laps completed, times and reasons for retirement. I'm not sure that I want to try to fix this though as it's just such a mess! A7V2 (talk) 06:23, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There are references provided for everything. Bear in mind that when this article was written, well over a decade ago, community standards for referencing were somewhat different. Actually, according to written guidelines they haven't changed, only controversial or otherwise contentious information and quotations are required to have an inline citation, but these days people expect more. Are people becoming lazy? Are people simply expecting all articles to be at the same level as the gold standard ones? Who knows. In this case there are only 8 references listed, so it wouldn't be too hard to check where specific details come from. It you desperately need each and every factoid to have its own little blue flag then please feel free to go ahead and add them. Pyrop e 17:17, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was in particular referring to to some of the non-finishers, as they disagree with Doug Nye's "The British Grand Prix". The 009900 webpage has no laps completed, and unsurprisingly I don't have the Oct 1948 copy of "The Motor" to check against. I have made changes which are also supported by the Motorsport Magazine database (which also doesn't show laps completed, but has the same order of nonfinishers as Nye's book). I will also point out that Nye's book lists Walker and Ansell/Brainbridge as "flagged off" rather than 11th and 12th, but since MS Mag database, and the existing article, had them as 11th and 12th I have left these.
