Location[edit]

Some news sources give the location as near Katongola 8°23′30″S 24°39′49″E / 8.39167°S 24.66361°E / -8.39167; 24.66361, itself near Kamina. This is over 360 km away from Likasi. What's the correct location? Abductive (reasoning) 02:05, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Time of derailment[edit]

The article says, "Between 10:00 and 11:00 local time (11:00-12:00 UTC)", but eastern DRC is on Central Africa Time, which is UTC+02:00 year-round. So if the accident happened between 10:00 and 11:00 local time, it was 8:00-9:00 UTC. And if it happened between 11:00 and 12:00 UTC, then it was 13:00-14:00 local time. Which is right? I see that the BBC news link in the article says "between 10:00 and 11:00 local time (09:00 and 10:00 GMT)", which makes sense if by "GMT" they mean British Summer Time, so I'm changing the UTC time. Angr (talk) 07:54, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Route knowledge and speed boards[edit]

Speed around sharp curves can be controlled by:

driver's knowledge of the route.
speed boards advising drivers of the lower speed limit at or approaching the sharp curve
some kind of ATP system that regulates the train speed automatically.
