Tense[edit]

This article is still written in future tense (e.g., "the game will be played"). It needs to be edited to past tense (e.g., "the game was played"). Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 18:30, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

UConn[edit]

Connecticut is the only team that had both men and women winning the National Championship in the same year. This happened in 2004, and again in 2014. Can someone please add this into the article, in an appropriate section? Thanks. Go, Huskies! Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 18:37, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Record by conference[edit]

I'm in the unusual situation of adding some material along with the source, but the numbers in the material added do not exactly match up with the source. Let me explain why I think this is okay.

The NCAA historical records include a document summarizing all of the tournament brackets in history. Tournament Bracket. I believe that data is correct, in the results in the record by conference table I created are consistent with that source. However, the brackets do not identify the conference associated with the teams. That information is found in a another NCAA report: Tournament Field. it is easier to work with that second document, partly because it includes the conference identification, but also because it has numerical values for the wins and losses in a way that can be easily accessed. Unfortunately, I tracked down to small errors where that document was inconsistent with the bracket. I sent an email to the NCAA, and I expect their report for next year will include the corrections. I'll include below a copy of my email.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:17, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

email to NCAA documenting error

Thanks again for all the work you do compiling historical statistics. It is a truly impressive undertaking.

I was adding conference results to Wikipedia pages for the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_NCAA_Division_I_Women%27s_Basketball_Tournament

I used the tournament field results as found at 2021 Women's Final Four Records.

http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/w_final_four_records_book/2021/Field.pdf

I noticed two small errors.

My working assumption is that the brackets are correct:

http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/w_final_four_records_book/2021/Brackets.pdf

The entry for Depaul for 2014 currently reads: DePaul (7) Big East N 15 3 83.3 1st 27 6 81.8 * 1 1 2nd 29 7 80.6

I believe it should read: DePaul (7) Big East N 15 3 83.3 1st 27 6 81.8 * 2 1 RSF 29 7 80.6

According to the bracket, DePaul won their first game against Oklahoma and their second game against Duke (then fell to Texas A&M). That means they should have two wins and one loss (not one win and one loss) and ended with the regional semi final (RSF)

There's also a small issue with Texas A&M. The entry currently reads: Texas A&M (3) Southeastern Y 13 3 81.3 T2nd 24 8 75.0 @ 3 1 RSF 27 9 75.0

I believe it should read: Texas A&M (3) Southeastern Y 13 3 81.3 T2nd 24 8 75.0 @ 3 1 RF 27 9 75.0

The wins and losses are correct, but Texas A&M advanced to the regional finals(RF)

Response from Rick Nixon: Thanks Stephen, always appreciate the extra set of eyes. Will get these corrected.

Take care,

Rick — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sphilbrick (talkcontribs) 16:41, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
