Orphaned references in 2015 Giro d'Italia[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 2015 Giro d'Italia's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 21:05, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    Pass/Fail:

I changed Sanremo to San Remo to make it consistent with the mention of Milan - San Remo in the article. I hope that's OK. Things that should be looked into:

  • Lead: It might be worth mentioning that Contador won the Giro without winning a stage. Maybe you can also find instances where others did the same and note that in the Race Overview section?
  • Lead: Also worth mentioning that Nizzolo won the points classification without winning a stage.
    • Done these two. I think the research you suggest would be a bit WP:SYNTHy. There's nothing to make it especially notable. The only article I've found that mentions it is this one, which suggests strongly that it was no big deal... Relentlessly (talk) 12:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Teams: Any chance that a source mentioned the fact that Cofidis wasn't invited? After all, I find that pretty significant considering they were a major WorldTour Team for years...
    • I don't think they applied. None of the media mentioned them as notable absentees. Relentlessly (talk) 12:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pre-race favorites: Optional: I find the image of Contador there now to be not ideal, since you cannot see his face. Maybe one from the 2011 Giro would be better, even if he was stripped from that title? After all, he was also driving for his current team back then.
    • Yeah, I deliberately included one from a Giro that he still holds the title for! I suppose I could use File:Alberto Contador Giro.jpg instead, but it would mean an even longer caption, which I'm keen to avoid. Relentlessly (talk) 12:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pre-race favorites: You should explain why Froome and Nibali are significant enough to be mentioned.

That's it really. Good job so far! Zwerg Nase (talk) 08:15, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Zwerg Nase, for your review and edits. I'm a bit in two minds about Sanremo, but I've no objection to "San Remo". Wikipedia isn't consistent on the question. I've replied to your other points above: do take a look and see if you're satisfied! Relentlessly (talk) 12:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
All done, another pass, congrats :) Zwerg Nase (talk) 13:03, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
