Suggested expansion[edit]

  • Origins: The 216th was formed on 1 April 1944 with the equipment and personnel of the 315th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron, 899th Guard Squadron, 5th Bombing and Gunnery Range Squadron, 317th Sub Depot, 401st and 521st Service Squadrons and Medical, Veterinary, Finance, and WAC Detachments. (Units listed in Air Adjutant General's Station List of 15 March 1944).
  • Disposition: In the first half of 1946, Wendover was transferred from from Second Air Force to Fourth Air Force. The 216th moved to Kirtland Field, where it was discontinued, and base support functions at Wendover were assumed by the 445th AAF Base Unit.

I see a problem with finding reliable secondary sources for all of this, however.

After Fifteenth Air Force (SAC) took over Wendover in 1947, it organized an unrelated 216th AAF Base Unit (Maneuver Base), later 216th AF Base Unit, later 4100th Maneuver Base Squadron. --Lineagegeek (talk) 16:38, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A primary source will do. Where did you get it from? Hawkeye7 (talk) 19:52, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Continued on my talk page. I'll try to get a usable source and avoid WP:OR --Lineagegeek (talk) 23:04, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
