Image copyright problem with Image:Belgium euro s02 200.jpg[edit]

The image Image:Belgium euro s02 200.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

National edges Type A & Type B[edit]

It has recently come to my attention that the edge inscriptions of the €2 coin comes in two types, type A: when the edge inscription faces the common side & type B: when the edge inscription faces the National side, this may seem like a minor detail, but I think it should be mentioned in the article, does anyone object to me adding this information? Kevin hipwell (talk) 02:38, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

To me is not a big deal, but I do not see the harm in adding a couple of sentences about this topic. Miguel.mateo (talk) 04:13, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
I have two problems, the first is I don't know if there is any standard for which is the A Type and which is the B Type, secondly I am having problems with how to explain the two types (maybe figleaf from world of coins can help with that one) Kevin hipwell (talk) 22:13, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Switch to the new common side[edit]

The article does not mention which countries switched to the new map in 2007 and which did so in 2008 – I think that this is important information and should be added to all the denominations except the 1c, 2c and 5c.--Melitikus (talk) 20:04, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Redundant €?[edit]

In the second paragraph of the article, isn't the word "Euro" in the phrase "The €2 euro coin (...)" redundant? I would have thought it would be either "The €2 coin" or "The 2 Euro coin" - but I didn't change it due to uncertainty, due to having been caught out by vagueries of usage on Wikipedia in the past :) (I know, I know - serious nitpicking. Nevertheless...) --Snograt talk here 01:53, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Austria non-latin alphabet[edit]

In the section on Design/Obverse (national) sides it says that "The side cannot repeat the denomination of the coin unless the issuing country uses an alphabet other than Latin (currently, Greece and Austria are the only such countries, hence they engrave "2 EYPΩ" and "2 EURO" upon their coins respectively)."

I didn't know Austria uses a non-latin alphabet and I can't find any references for this. They do have the word EURO on their coin, but I think they are just not following the regulations. (On the page for Euro_Coins it says "This rule is flouted by Austria.").

BTW, Cyprus also uses a non-latin alphabet (Greek), but they don't repeat the denomination of the coin (although they are allowed to do so). 193.145.39.154 (talk) 15:49, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:2 euro coin Pt serie 1.png)
