Quack.com was acquired in 2000 by America Online through the actions of Ted Leonsis in his role as head of AOL Interactive. Quack.com technology powers such powerful brands as Moviefone. Furhter, the recent departure of Ted Leonsis from AOL and the recent focus on AOL on competing in telephony areas with such companies as Skype and Vonage makes this acquisition of Quack seem prescient and appropriate. AOL and TWX continue to struggle for new revenue generating services and the Quack acqusition is part of one of the most challenging corporate stories of the decade.
