Pronunciation[edit]

A different pronunciation is suggested in The National newspaper's article in its September 21, 2016 edition: "Dumfries and Galloway plays host to Ae, which for the record should be pronounced Aye, and it is reputed to be the shortest name of any village in the whole of Britain". So perhaps Ae has alternative pronunciations // and //.
