Subspecies of African Gray Parrots[edit]

The Congo African Gray Parrot is a subspecies of African Gray, as well as the Timneh. They are the same species, and the information should apply to them both. This makes nearly the entire article wrong, starting from where it says that the African Gray is the same thing as the Congo African Gray. Clearly, the person who wrote it does not know what they were writing about. A (fairly) recent Birdlife International ruling split the Congo and Timneh Greys into separate species. This is also supported by the IOC World Bird List. Officially they're called the 'Grey Parrot' and 'Timneh Parrot' now, though I still use 'Congo African Grey Parrot' and 'Timneh African Grey Parrot'... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 23:16, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"African grey" -> "Grey" rush[edit]

Jaspergeli, may I ask whence this sudden fervour for redirecting and replacing all instances of "African grey parrot" in favour of "Grey parrot"? While it hardly seems worth the bother, it is certainly not useful to do it in such a hackneyed fashion, i.e., search & removal of all instances of "African". That broke all manner of image links and references. If you have to do it, please do it carfeully and sensibly. I am, however, not convinced that it is necessary at all. Both common names are in use, and various interlinked articles are currently set up nicely using "African grey parrot".
