Contested deletion[edit]

The username name was changed per the editor's request. The old username, however, was not commercial nor did it represent a group, so I find the original concern raised rather perplexing. This article should not be deleted for lack of importance because the content it contains is a descriptive (not prescriptive) narrative about the work of a nonprofit organization, the AWD Conservancy, committed to conserving an endangered species (i.e., the African wild dog). It is in no way commercial, rather it is intended to inform, not promote. Yes, I also realize that the encyclopaedia is not a directory of charities, nor should it be. I would be happy to contact an editor to resolve this. Comment added by talk (Hirola 3 contribs) 21:20, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

I have declined the speedy deletion request as I believe the article makes sufficient claim of significance. This does not guarantee that the article will not be deleted. Please add reliable third party sources (reports in newspapers, or by the other organisations you say this one is working with, that refer to this organisation) to establish notability - reading WP:ORG might also help. Also please remember that this is an encyclopaedia not a directory of charities. Please do not add promotional material (you'll see I have made some changes to comply with this), remain factual. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 21:50, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
