This article is written in Bangladeshi English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, analyse, defence) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

2000000.2 million metric tons?![edit]

For two years this page has said "With 2000000.2 million metric tons produced in 1999, rice is Bangladesh's principal crop.". That's 2000 billion or 2 trillion tons. 300 tons per human being on earth! Anyone seriously think Bangladesh grew that much rice? http://www.irri.org/science/cnyinfo/bangladesh.asp says 35,820,800 tons for 2000, so I'm putting that in -OOPSIE- (talk) 02:19, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Major Redundancy[edit]

This page is great, but one phrase is written in both the intro and Food crops sections.

"Because of Bangladesh's fertile soil and normally ample water supply, rice can be grown and harvested three times a year in many areas.[5] Due to a number of factors, Bangladesh's labor-intensive agriculture has achieved steady increases in food grain production despite the often unfavorable weather conditions.[5] These include better flood control and irrigation, a generally more efficient use of fertilizers"

I would just delete most of the intro and leave the second section but there are 2 conflicting statistics (rice produciton in 2000 vs. Rice production in 2006-2007) and I don't know which one should be kept. Paul Layne (talk) 00:37, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Paul Layne[reply]

Bangladesh is the fourth largest rice [6] producing country in the world.[edit]

The reference link is dead. This statement contradicts the Rice Wikipedia page, which lists Bangladesh as the 6th largest producer (but the 4th largest consumer).
