Eurocopter model designators[edit]

I feel I need to mention somewhere the interesting thing about Eurocopter model designators: a) the manufacturer is part of the number, and b) even if the manufacturer changes, the model number doesn't. Most older Eurocopter models carry "AS" designators - for example the AS 365 Dauphin/AS 565 Panther, or the AS 332 Super Puma. That "AS" is actually short for "Aerospatiale", the original manufacturer of the types, before they merged into Eurocopter. Similarly, Aerospatiale produced the SA 330 Puma for nearly 30 years - the SA comes from Sud Aviation, which was one of the companies that merged to form Aerospatiale. Fair use rationale for Image:Eurocopter.png[edit]

Image:Eurocopter.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

National Origin[edit]

It's noted that French designs have rotors going in one direction & designs with German participation rotating the other way. But when looking up the pages for these helicopters, it ISN'T specified whch direction the rotor rotates, rendering the note essentially moot. Of course the only German designed helicopter produced, the MBB 105, had it's production shut down once the merger was carried out. So basically, "Euro"copter is truly a French only company that grants Germany the 'privalege' to build it's designs.

I disagree. For example the BK 117 and its further development EC145 as well as the EC135 are designs which were developed mainly by MBB in Germany. Regarding lemons: Please cite the sources. --188.192.182.156 (talk) 20:49, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SA 360 C Dauphin[edit]

The FAA website on Airworthiness Directives has all Eurocopter France but the SA 360C Dauphin moved to Airbus Helicopters. Did the SA 360C Dauphin not go with it? 75.32.48.185 (talk) 21:38, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The official start of Airbus Helicopters was on January 1, 2014.[edit]

I am not sure if I want to change the first paragraph of this Wikipedia page because I don't know how to edit a Wikipedia page and put the correct reference on it. However, the official start of Airbus Helicopters was on January 1, 2014. I remember this date since I am in the helicopter industry. And a quick Google search confirms this date on Airbus Helicopters website. https://www.airbushelicopters.com/website/en/ref/History_153.html.

I quote Airbus Helicopters website: "January 1, 2014: Eurocopter becomes Airbus Helicopters. The rebranding marks a new era in the history of the company as it joins Airbus and Airbus Defense & Space within the new Airbus Group."
