In order for this template to be displayed on this page we need to have some information pertaining to BRAC and this facility. Because their is no information on the page, I am moving the templete here until the information can be uploaded. For more information, click here. TomStar81 03:50, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Base status, 2016[edit]

This base has been on the closure list since at least 2005, yet I can find no evidence that it has actually been closed. In fact, air tanker operations have been transferred from another base to Altus AFB ca. 2013. Can anyone provide an updte on the status of AFB? Bruin2 (talk) 15:52, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Altus was not on the closure list at all. It was placed on the 2005 BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) list. Not every facility on the list is there to be closed. Most of the facilities on the list are there because they are being realigned. That is what happened to Altus. The complete 2005 BRAC report can be found here. The report shows that the base lost 16 military and 10 indirect jobs. It says "Establish a MAF LSC at Scott Air Force Base by realigning RSS positions from Hurlburt Field and Sembach (non-BRAC programmatic) and LRS positions from Little Rock Air Force Base and Altus Air Force Base." Those 16 positions that it lists were Logistics Readiness Squadron positions that moved to Scott AFB Illinois. -- GB fan 23:59, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
