How should we cite the Cawthorn case?[edit]

Essentially, a district court judge has agreed with the argument the 1872 Amnesty Act is prospective in nature as well and has repealed Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. It is unclear whether there will be an appeal as of current.

(Please note I’m not looking to get into a legal or political argument here, just trying to help write an encyclopedia article.) 172.72.176.39 (talk) 18:38, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Amnesty Act of 1898[edit]

Should this article also discuss the Amnesty Act of 1898 "which removed the disabilities of the approximately 750 remaining former Confederate officeholders who had been subject to Section 3 disqualification".
