[edit] To do / details

This article was created by Oliver Pereira.

Things to do:-

  • Get Sir Anthony's precise date of birth.
  • Check dates of children's births and date of Sir Anthony's divorce. One source says that his daughter Joanna was "six years old" when her parents divorced, which is not consistent with the dates given here.
  • Get details of Sir Anthony's second marriage and subsequent children.
  • Get further details of his career.
  • Check spelling of Joanna's married name. One seemingly well-researched page gives her surname as "Tufnell" (with one "f"), but this could be explained by the author perhaps assuming that Joanna, being from an upper-class family, had married into the Tufnells of Langleys, a family of the landed gentry.
  • Consider giving Jo Tuffnell and Patrick Magee their own pages.
Dates as given match those given in Burke's Peerage, which also spells Tufnell with one "f", FWIW. -- Someone else
Thanks! :o) So presumably the BBC has made a mistake, consistently spelling her name as "Tuffnell" - unless the family has decided to change the spelling since Burke's Peerage came out...! By the way, I don't suppose you know if Jo's husband is a member of the Tufnell family of Langleys, do you? -- Oliver Pereira
Sorry, no clue on Peter Tufnell's origins<G>! -- Someone else

I checked the marriage indexes in the Family Records Centre in London today - don't worry, I was going there anyway! The index entry had Mr. Peter A. TUFFNELL marrying Ms. Joanna C. BERRY. So Burke's looks like the erroneous source! -- Oliver Pereira

Good to know <G>. Not their first, of course :( -- Someone else

[edit] Contact address

I'm going to remove the "For further info" bit... Wikipedia is not an address book. Mintguy 23:25 15 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Well... All right, I expect you're right to remove it from the article. I'm going to put the address here, though. Just in case anyone wants it... :) -- Oliver P. 23:46 15 Jul 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Weasel words

Authenticity check: A search reveals that the phrase "regarded by many" appears in the text. Is the phrase a symptom of a dubious statement? Could a source be quoted instead? Perhaps the "many" could be identified? Might text be edited to more genuinely reflect specific facts?

[edit] Missing information

Further to the comments above now made several years ago, I've been attempting to expand this article over the last few days. I added a section on his career (though that just briefly covers his political career) and some details about the 25th anniversary ceremony where Lady Sarah Berry and their daughter Sasha unveiled a plaque in Sir Anthony's memory. There's still a lot of missing information though. Some things which need to be included are;

  • Education - schooling, university, qualifications, etc.
  • Any military service - who he served with and any campaigns he was involved in (he would have been the right age to have served in the latter part of World War 2).
  • Early career - career before entering politics.
  • More on his political career. Did he serve in Heath's government for example?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks TheRetroGuy (talk) 14:06, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
