Quotes Removed[edit]

REMOVED THE QUOTES FROM "COERCIVE" AS DR. TOMI GOMORY ARGUES DIRECTLY THAT IT IS COERCIVE, LITERALLY, NOT "COERCIVE" AND THERE ARE MANY PUBLICATIONS TO BACK UP THIS CONCEPT.

how can ACT be inherently coercive when at least one ACT team i am aware of is a voluntary program, which does not mandate medications? IF ACT is part of an inpatient unit, or some other mandated program, i can see issues of coercion, but thats a problem with the boundary between coercion and voluntary treatment across all areas of mental health, and not unique to ACT inherently.12.125.80.214 (talk) 18:10, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ACT Teams[edit]

I was proud to start up and oversee and ACT team in WV for 3 years. It is a fantastic program as long as all the team members are on the same page. It also requires the support of the executive level, if this is not there, then the team will no be beneficial to the clients.

Merger?[edit]

I don't really know anything about this topic, but it appears that Program of Assertive Community Treatment is covering the same material. Should the two be merged? Maybe just redirect the PACT page here. Anyone strongly opposed to that? --Dual Freq (talk) 00:52, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - ACT is a generic term referring to a treatment modality or service delivery approach. It covers all programs that offer intensive community treatment for the mentally ill. PACT is a specific program developed at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison, Wisconsin. Think about as similar to the difference between tissue and Kleenex or gelatin and Jello or vacuum cleaner and Hoover. 32.218.46.21 (talk) 02:07, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a difference between PACT and ACT? There is no difference between the PACT (Program of Assertive Community Treatment) model and the ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) model. Not only does NAMI use PACT and ACT interchangeably, but PACT or ACT is also known by other names across the country. For example, in Wisconsin, ACT programs are called Community Support Programs, or CSP. In Florida, ACT programs are called FACT (Florida Assertive Community Treatment); in Rhode Island and Delaware ACT programs are called Mobile Treatment Teams (MTT), while Virginia uses PACT for its assertive community treatment teams. While the official name that a state, county, or locality uses for ACT varies widely, there is only one set of standards that NAMI sets forth for all programs of assertive community treatment.
