Population for Basra and Basra Province[edit]

Our source for Basra city says "Basra province, or Al Basrah province, is a province of iraq, with an area of 19,070 square kilometers and an estimated population of about 1,880,000 (2003)." [1] It includes this: UN Data 2003: Towns in Al-Basrah Province Population Shatt Al Arab 106,000 Al Madiana 158,800 Al Qurnah 137,400 Al Faw 21,700 Abu al Khasib 126,800 Al Zubair 277,200 Basrah 1,052,200 Total 1,880,100

Below is the discussion from the archive. Is there a way to get a more reasonable figure for the pop than the unsourced one we have in the lead? (Msrasnw (talk) 13:18, 14 June 2009 (UTC))

Source turns out to be an abandoned website and also turns out to be on Wikipedia's blacklist. Dagnabbit. 192.12.88.49 (talk) 14:22, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
