POV-Section tag[edit]

The "Porteño vs. Provincians" interpretation is flawed. Some of the most prominent federal leaders (Rosas, Dorrego) were porteños, while some prominent Unitarian leaders were from the Provinces (Sarmiento, Paz, Taboada, Ferré, etc.).

In other words, regardless of the dominance of Buenos Aires and its Customs House in any Centralist political project, the conflict was not between "porteños" and "provincians" but between two political groupings.
