Bitters?[edit]

I don't believe this is a bitters; it is an herbal liqueur. It is not particularly bitter; actually it's quite sweet and cinnamony/gingery. Badagnani 08:29, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Despite Becher's reputed sales description of it a century ago, the English word bitters probably didn't then and certainly doesn't now denote liqueurs such as Becherovka. Hey, it's great stuff! Why not just call it a liqueur?
PS. I changed the description a moment ago on the Gin and tonic page. Jrgetsin (talk) 18:11, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Approximately"[edit]

"Approximately 32 herbs" sounds a little exact. Is it 32 herbs or not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.172.150.17 (talk) 21:50, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Emetic?[edit]

I don't get a lot of Google hits for Vedlejší účinky bylinných likérů v geriatrické artritida, has someone actually found and checked this source? - Tournesol (talk) 13:36, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why did Gryffindor vandalize the article in December 2009?[edit]

My changes described the history of Becherovka with the information any encyclopedia user would expect--incl. about the existence of two companies for several decades, etc. All with sources. Now, however, it is not informative at all. But oh well, it's wikipedia. karpaten1 Karpaten1 (talk) 19:14, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that only after I posted, and I am sorry for the comment. There should be a delete function. Looks good.

"Anise seed"[edit]

Can someone verify if it is flavored with aniseed? There is clearly an anise-like flavor in it, but no such statements should be made without some verifiable source. It may very well be star anise or fennel for all we know.

It doesn't appear to be mentioned on the Becherovka website, and the searches I've performed have proven otherwise fruitless. It is after all a "secret recipe." Such a statement about its ingredients may not be appropriate unless verifiable.

If not verifiable, I suggest we update the page to say something like "hints of..." rather than explicitly stating ingredients which may or may not be in there. -Devin (d.s.ronis) (talk) 11:53, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Lemond (alcohol)[edit]

Lemond (alcohol) is a minuscule stub, all of four sentences, and the subject liqueur is a variant of Becherovka itself. It would be better suited as a section in the (fairly short, but not as short as Lemond) Becherovka article. TJRC (talk) 01:53, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
