comments on notability of this article[edit]

I came across the article while fact checking sources regarding the song "Hound Dog". Rockabilly Europe carries an article which states that Bernie Lowe, in a earlier gig which invovled him with Freddie Bell and the Bellboys, instructed Freddie Bell to create a version of the lyrics that would appeal to a white audience. Elvis heard this version of the song and asked if he could record it. There is very little information on line about Bernie Lowe. I was very pleased to find what little was here. I will be adding a few things to it, and will cite references. In spite of all the information that surrounds us, or maybe because of it, our history is being quickly forgotten. Please do not delete this, or other, seemingly unimportant articles. The amount of resources Wikipedia devotes to maintaining an entry like this is trivial. Please do add to the article. The reason for have a filter on notablility is (in my view, paraphrasing the guidelines (see links in the tag)) is that although the computer resources (disc space) taken up by this article is unimportant, it does need formatting and it does need sources to bring it nearer to standard. It really needs expanding too... this all takes a person's time. Furthermore it needs watching against vandals, some of that is automated and some of it takes a person's time. Also the filter on notability is so that there is not an article on everyone, me for example.

As you say, Wikipedia has articles on many things not easily found elsewhere and that's important. There must also be a requirement of quality and reliability too. Rich257 20:55, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
