wording[edit]

I'm curious about the phrase "the likes of" in the second paragraph. Did he perform with these people? Or just in the same venue during the same time period? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.202.80.219 (talk) 17:23, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Billy Taylor- A Member of the Ellington Orchestra?[edit]

I am new to WP and am learning about its formating. I do know quite a lot about jazz. Dr Billy Taylor, the subject of this page, was never a member of the Ellington Orchestra. Billy Taylor (jazz bassist) was. This is a very common error.

Dr Billy Taylor knew Duke and even played with Duke. He was never a member of the band though.

I am taking those links only down. Please do not put them back.

Dr Billy would agree with me.

Regarding requests for more citations[edit]

Please use the "citation needed" tag so that people can know exactly where your dispute lies. Please do not simply slap a "this article needs additional citations" banner across the top of the page. This does not help focus attention to what you may think is a weak spot in the article. Thanks.Paradise coyote (talk) 17:25, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Agreed, and I'm taking it off as tagging the whole article seems wholly inappropriate. Dlabtot (talk) 01:44, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Compositions[edit]

The discography is useful, but is there any chance of a list of his compositions? Assuming he did compose other pieces besides I Wish That I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free? I can't see any others mentioned in the article at present. Qwfp (talk) 18:09, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
