  1. Removed part of the article that said Harras should receive praise for getting Claremont of the X-Men titles -- obviously nothing but bashing of Claremont.

Among the lack of reliable sources about Harras criticizm, there are many other facts (bigger than Harras itself) that drive Marvel in bizzarre (at least) paths... Like when (1994) owner Ron Perelman had decided to purchase Heroes World Distribution in "direct market distribution war" , or the different 'vision' of company ,when, in 1996 Toy Biz purchased Marvel , and Avi Arad (cinema) replaced Perelman... 88.149.244.218 (talk) 22:47, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed this article feels like a dumping of all manner of criticisms of problems Marvel experienced between 1995 & 2000 at Harras's door. The problem is that historically the Marvel corporate structure has been invisible to fans but the Editor-in-Chief hasn't, with the result that the latter often gets blamed for all manner of unpopular decisions regardless of whether or not they have taken them or support them, and their role as one of the public faces of Marvel also requires them to defend these decisions. (e.g. "Jim Shooter won't give Jack Kirby his artwork back" when Shooter personally wanted to but the legal department had requirements that were dragging things out.) Furthermore by the time Harras was appointed a lot of the bad decisions had already been taken. You also get the problem that the EiC's job is to ensure consistent quality across the line and that very often requires exerting controls and clashing with creators who whine to the fan press that their creativity is being suppressed. And of course in the internet era all manner of blame spreads rapidly and as it's irrelevant to the wider world no correction action is taken.
For example Heroes Reborn was negotiated by corporate superiors who overrode editorial objections and by the time Harras was in post it was too late for him to exert whatever influence a single EiC had to stop it. Similarly the bankruptcy stemmed from a number of ridiculous corporate decisions - e.g. the decision to self-distribute go to self-distribution which not only deeply damaged the direct sales market as a whole but also saw Marvel waste money buying up its own distribution network and then shutting it down not long afterwards. Again this was not a decision at EiC level. And of course endless could be written about Ron Perelman's role.
That's not to say Harras is without blame or that there were controversial decisions taken at EiC level but someone who can both access the clear sources and cut through the "blame the one name we know" stuff needs to give this article a total makeover. This article's poorly written, it doesn't cover relevant aspects of the subject in any insight - it doesn't discuss what he did at Marvel (how much did he have to do with those "critically acclaimed runs" - and what about the rest of the line that was critically panned?), it doesn't even mention that he was fired, nor explain why.
