Does the PRC recognize such as British citizens?[edit]

Does the PRC recognize the British citizenship obtained by ethnic Chinese Hong Kong residents in the British Nationality Selection Scheme? In the article Exit & Entry Permit (Republic of China)#British citizens it is implied that PRC does not recognize, but what would that mean in practice? – Kaihsu (talk) 21:24, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This has now become a timely topic, when Lee Bo, a British citizen, is characterized by the Chinese foreign ministry as "first and foremost a Chinese citizen". It is not clear whether he became a British citizen via BNSS or otherwise voluntarily naturalized, thus losing PRC citizenship according to PRC law.[1]Kaihsu (talk) 19:42, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, this is explained in Nationality law of the People's Republic of China#Dual nationals in Hong Kong and Macau. – Kaihsu (talk) 19:45, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
