If U = (2/3)*X, V = Y, and W = (1/2)*(-X+3*Y+Z), then I'm pretty sure that $Z=\textstyle{\frac{3}{2}}U-3V+2W$. (Maxima can give this to you automatically, use expand(solve([U=(2/3)*X,V=Y,W=(1/2)*(-X+3*Y+Z)],[X,Y,Z]));) I would correct it, but the references are behind a paywall, so I don't know if U, V, and W are defined correctly in the first place.
