Please help to improve this article[edit]

As it stands, the article is mainly about demonstrations held by CND and it lacks a proper discussion of CND's policies. It needs more material on

  • CND's early attitudes to NATO and non-alignment, unilateral and multinational disarmament and contemporary disarmament conferences
  • its response to the Vietnam war and how it eclipsed concern about nuclear weapons from the mid-60s
  • the period between 1965 and 1980
  • the revival of the 1980s
  • CND's international relations and its links with nuclear disarmament campaigns in other countries
  • relations with government and political parties
  • relations with trades unions and TU suuport for CND
  • the lead up to the 1960 Labour Party resolution in favour of unilateralism, regarded as the high point of CND's influence, and its reversal in 1961
  • the 1982 Labour resolution in favour of unilateralism
  • its influence on defence policy, if any
  • how it developed policies on issues other than nuclear weapons, especially
  • decision-making within the organisation
  • more up-to-date information on membership

The CND sign[edit]

The sign or badge came from signal flags or semaphore flags as used by the army, navy or the boy scouts. Used when one person makes a signal to signal to another in line of sight. Each letter of the alphabet has its own position of two flags are used by the signaler the letters CND when shown individually in flag form make up the sign — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.84.166.2 (talk) 00:33, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
