How can this be called a "snap election" when it was held six years after the previous election? It was more of a "long-awaited election" than a snap election. Ground Zero 14:32, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Yes, a "drag election". I think this was added and thinking of the "snap election" as an "unusually timed" election, since this election was held one year later than expected. I'd support the removal of this article from the List of snap elections in Canada and Category:Snap elections, since a snap election refers to an election called much earlier than expected, but I think I understand why it was added on. --Deathphoenix 15:11, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I believe, not certain though, that even though this election was 6 years after the previous one, and the normal maximum is 5 years, the agreement/bill (not sure what) that allowed the government to postpone the election beyond 5 years did not specify a date, or it was beyond 1917, so even though it was 6 years later it was earlier than neccessary or probably expected (people probably expected the election to be put off as long as possible. This is just my ideas, not certain, mainly an edjucated guess based on facts and if anyone knows more please tell me what is wrong.say1988 June 30, 2005 17:53 (UTC)
Perhaps it was a "snap election" since everyone thought the election would not be held until the war was over?

You've put forward various interesting ideas on why it might have been added. I am removing this from the category not because your ideas are invalid, but only because so far we don't have anything concrete -- just speculation. Thanks again. Ground Zero | t 14:28, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
