Introduction of Christianity in the Philippines[edit]

Christianity was formally introduced by the Spaniards to the Carigaran-on in 1595. On July 16, 1995, a 400th Leyte Evangelization was celebrated which marked the propagation of Christian faith and the profession of worship to the Triumph of the Holy Cross, which is the patron of the community.

The town is one of the major municipalities in Eastern Visayas primarily because of its socio-economic status and agricultural diversity, to wit: great business establishments, farm products (copra and rice), and rich aquatic resources. In 2000, Carigara Bay was declared by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, as the no. 1 fishery site in the Philippines where numerous species of fish can be found.

With its rich traditions and culture and deep Christian faith, the town of Carigara is truly amazing! - (cutiebhoi-olram '08)

Cityhood of Carigara[edit]

Hello Wikipedians! And to my fellow Carigaran-ons (if any)...

Just here to tackle some great discussions that I found informational and interesting, also getting some ideas and point of views from you guys. This discussion does not have any connections to the government or what the local government of Carigara is doing, this section is merely for public discussion and my personal opinion, as for your information. : )

It would be a good thing that Carigara "could" soon become a city one day since it holds the "first established town" title in the Eastern Visayas region and also the first provincial capital of Leyte and Samar after the two provinces separated from Cebu on 1751. Other than that, Carigara had a good strategic position just right on the shores of Carigara Bay. On the present day, Carigara possesses a port that I hope in the near future would become more widely operational to serve the island of Leyte and the surrounding provinces.

What do you think? What are your opinions? Symondecarigara (talk) 09:05, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's 1735, not 1751, my apologies for my incorrect input of year. Symondecarigara (talk) 09:15, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
