Meaning of 'tuireadh'[edit]

The entry cited in DIL is for 'tuirem', which means (a) counting etc. and under (b), it specifies 'Mod Ir' for 'lament' etc. Cath Maige Tuired is not referenced in this entry.

The entry in DIL for 'tuir', pillar, does seem more plausible, although again there is no reference to the Cath.

Is there any other evidence to suggest lament over pillar?
