Chandela clan is one of the main Chandravanshi Rajput clan. --Schandel 05:26, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah you are true but there are other chandela's too, like Jat chandela,Chandela who are not Rajputs in UP,Bihar and MP.Frther the rulers we are talking about never called themselves Rajput. 08:29, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
May be there are other Chandels but this article is not about those people. If you are so concerned about it then put the link in ambiguous and thats about it. This article is about "Chandels" who built Khajuraho and they were definitely Rajputs. They were my forefathers and I can not let them be dishonored like that. Rajputs by definitions are "sons of rulers" and please bring forth the evidence which proves that they did not consider them "Rajputs". Otherwise stop vandalizing. Thank god you can't vandalize the Encyclopedia Britannica. Read on if you can afford it.

---It is interesting to see views on whether Chandels (Chandelas) were Rajputs or not! Hey, I can tell you for sure that the Chandels (Chandelas) were Rajputs as I too am a Chandel and am a Rajput (sorry, no casteism here) and am one of the proud bearers of the legacy of the Chandel (Chandela) dynasty which built the world famous Khajuraho temple! ---- Anju Chandel
This needs to be split up into sections, or have some of the less (not) notable content removed. I know nothing about it, so I'm afraid I can't help too much – the length makes it a daunting task — alex.muller (talk • edits) 19:33, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
MANY CHANDEL'S ARE IN PAL GROUP
Hi, I would like to add here that many chandel's are in Pal Kshatriya Group in North India. At the time of their hardship they left their princely houses. --- LCP CHANDEL —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lakhmi (talk • contribs) 12:17, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi All Community Members,
VERY PROPEROUS & LOVING HAPPY DIWALI TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES.
CHANDEL'S ARE THE CHANDRAVANSHI'S KNWON AS GWALA-SHEPHEREDS ALSO.
Hi Dear All,
It is confirmed that we belongs to Chandravanshi's and Chandel are a part of Chandravansham. Also I would like to add more informations here that Chandravanshi's are known as Gwala/Gadaria/Shephereds. Because Lord Krishna was the shephereds. And we are all knwon as Gwala/Shephereds/Ahirs and very commonly known as Dhangars / Neekhars.
Earlier peoples known and recognised by their linage like Suryavanshi's, Chandravanshi's, Agnivanshi's but later on they adopted the name as Rajputs.
Originally we are SHEPHEREDS / GWALA known as (Chandravanshi' or Somavanshi's and in some part of country knwon as (Yaduvanshi's a part of Chandravanshi's). As regards to Gotra's - Chandel is a main gotra and again it is further divied into sub gotras e.g. Chandiya Chandel, Rahiya Chandel, Guiya Chandel, Mankiwale Chandel, Basedewale Chandel and Chandrayan.
A large part of Chandels are in PAL COMMUNITY which is known as PAL KSHATRIYA / PAL SHEPHEREDS.
We all have to project ourselves as CHANDRAVANSHI'S ...
