Wikipedia:Reliable sources[edit]

Am deleting a) the "Unreferenced" template as per the Wikipedia guideline (Wikipedia:Reliable sources) mentioned in the template. The rationale I'm using is: i. the common sense referred to in said guideline; ii. the guy has his own Catalogue at the Archives Division of the London School of Economics, so is hardly a non-entity; and b) the weasly words significantly and greatly, as the only possible objectionable content within the article. If he was Black[edit]

If he was Black this article would have Racist in the Lead, Black Supremacists in the tags along with Pseudo history. But this is what double standards mean, that us minority editors have been complaining about. I guess there is no "RS" that calls him a White Supremacist. --Inayity (talk) 00:11, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Background[edit]

@Rockypedia: What is your argument for asserting that it isn't notable to mention the ethnicity, culture, and religion of this man who studies ethicity, culture, and religion? Note also that he studies Semites specifically, as mentioned in the article. Note also that User:MShabazz and I went through this whole dance and I have repeatedly demonstrated that, like many mainstream sources, Wikipedia should consider this information notable for anthropologists, ethnographers, etc. Franzboas (talk)

If your goal is to motivate me to have an admin look at your edit history and block you for disruptive editing, you're doing a good job so far. Rockypedia (talk) 23:36, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Rockypedia: I have made my argument. Do you have a counterargument? Why don't you think his family background is notable? Franzboas (talk) 23:38, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I already told you I'm done going in circles with you about your anti-semitic edits. If you add this info again, I will revert it per WP:CYCLE. If you continue to edit war, you'll be blocked. If you want to add this info you're going to need to start an RfC asking other editors to join you in your crusade to point out every Jewish BLP as a Jew with your sockpuppet account. Goodbye. Rockypedia (talk) 02:55, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw the WP:3O and thought I'd chime in. I do believe that his religion or ethnicity are worthy of mention here as per Franzboas. I quickly looked through the history and try to parse out the argument for not including that information, but I fail to see it. If Rockypedia can expand on why they believe his background is NOT worthy of mention here, that would be most helpful. For now, I definitely say keep it as almost every biography does mention it if known (regardless of what the ethnicity is).

  • Cited and verifiable background/family information that is not excessively trivial is always relevant. That's what encyclopedias are for; to provide relevant biographical information. Softlavender (talk) 10:06, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I understand the issues around Franzboas and his Jewish project, so I'm sympathetic to Rockypedia's concerns. But I'm not seeing any reason this biographical information shouldn't be included. So I'd say include the information. Cjhard (talk) 00:02, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
