Best Practice[edit]

A reference to some appropriate "best practice" documents for chartering would be very valuable194.72.35.70 (talk) 12:50, 29 October 2010 (UTC)AP[reply]

Charterers[edit]

I used to work with ship Owners as an employee and i know what are their interests and how they think but i never worked with a charterer, so from a charterers perspective: 1- Is there any other contract between the charterers and receivers (if FOB is the term of Delivery) or with Shippers (if it's CnF of CIF) other than the Bill of Lading ? 2- The bill of Lading is a receipt of goods issued by the carrier or its agent to the shipper, so what is the legal position of the charterer in this case, and how he receives his money from the shipper/receiver ? supposedly the shipper has delivered goods to the carrier against a Bill of Lading, the shipper will then goes an submit the B/L to the Bank and get his money based on a L/C, so where is the charterer here and how he gets paid and what is the contract available to protect his interests with the Shippers/receivers ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rasheddeg (talkcontribs) 07:28, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal (2018)[edit]

I propose that this page and the Charterparty page be merged into a single page, perhaps called "Ship charterparty". Any views? Arrivisto (talk) 13:04, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
