Neutrality Dispute?[edit]

So, ummm, where's the dispute? And for that matter, where's the deletion review? Seeing as Psphenom no longer exists, I'm removing the NPOV and deletion review and chalking it up to user error. 192.147.12.31 15:06, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moscow, the Communist Bovine[edit]

I recently updated the roster page by removing Create-A-Wrestler and putting his new gimmick, Moscow, the Communist Bovine in his place. This edit has been reverted. WHY? 69.250.39.186 14:30, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Saget[edit]

What the hell? You gotta be kidding me. Theres no way in hell Bob Saget runs a wrestling fed.

Well, he doesn't personally run it, but he recorded a vignette which aired at Young Lions Cup 4 and is on a Podcast A-Go-Go episode. 81.157.206.112 18:44, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok so if he doesn't run it, why is he listed as the commisioner? Surely he should just be a special guest? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Падший ангел (talkcontribs)

Because "commissioner" is his 'official' position. William Regal or Mick Foley didn't really run RAW during their tenures as commissioners for the show in the early 2000's, for example, but they still held the title of "commissioner". Mike Quackenbush runs Chikara; People like Chikarason, Saget, etcetera are just kayfabe staff members - who, in Saget's case - make appearances here or there or record vignettes for Chikara, if that makes sense. Move[edit]

I propose we move this article to just 'CHIKARA' as that is the full name of the promotion. --Endlessdan 14:13, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second this notion, and I have made a request in the appropriate section Xdgn 15:27, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - for reasons stated in WP:MOSTM. --DAJF 15:40, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, as DAJF. However, it could be moved to Chikara. -Ulla Sweden 21:40, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:MOSTM. I concur with Ulla Sweden that a better title might be Chikara, if there's no evidence that "Chikara Pro Wrestling" is the actual company name. If it is the company name, however, WP:MOSTM would argue that the correct name of the article should be Chikara pro wrestling, while WP:CAPS would perhaps argue contrarily that it should, as a proper noun, remain Chikara Pro Wrestling. In any case, CHIKARA is entirely unsuitable. CzechOut | 08:04, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Fair enough, I have requested a move to just "Chikara", per WP:MOSTM Xdgn 11:32, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as there are people whose names are "Chikara", so "Chikara" should likely be a disambig page instead of a redirect (what it currently is). It's also the name of a company in Japan, a magazine in Japan, several songs and albums, etc. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 02:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I reverted the move made by Xdgn as it's obvious by the discussion so far that most people oppose the move as described here. Please do not move the article until a consensus is reached. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: They oppose the move to "CHIKARA", not to "Chikara (wrestling)", which meets the criteria of WP:MOSTM and the fact that there are other people and companies called "Chikara". Xdgn 11:07, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment: I again reverted your move (this time a cut-n-paste move—please don't do that ever again as it can be a pain to undo) and placed a disambiguation page at Chikara. I think this discussion needs to be closed since there's no point in it anymore ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 04:26, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Chikaralogo.jpg[edit]

Image:Chikaralogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Name[edit]

Technically, Chikara is in caps. So I supposed the article be changed to CHIKARA (professional wrestling)65.188.226.135 (talk) 22:00, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cavalier Jones[edit]

Was in fact an authority figure on the first couple shows of 2004, up until he was fired as a result of the main event of 2004's Anniversario show. I edited the administration section to reflect this and it was edited out by someone. If we're going to count the other members of the CHIKARA "administration" like Bob Saget and Dave Coulier, there is no good reason to not list him for posterity (you could argue that he only appeared on a couple of shows five years ago, but Saget appeared via video on one show in 2005, and Coulier has yet to make a single appearance himself). Attendance Record[edit]

It was noted in this years King of Trios (2009) that they have set another attendance record. This should be changed on the main page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.116.22.6 (talk) 23:01, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Expand lead[edit]

The lead needs to expanded. Chikara's definitely one of the more unique North American professional wrestling promotions and the lead doesn't reflect some of the more unique aspects of the company. --Jtalledo (talk) 23:39, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Colt Cabana an Alumni?[edit]

How can Colt Cabana be an alumni when he still wrestles for the promotion? In fact he had a match on the "High Noon" Internet pay-per-view. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 23:05, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Defunct" section[edit]

I am going to add a "Defunct" section to the infobox so that the article reflects that this professional wrestling organization operated from 2002-2013. I am going to cite http://grizzlybearcafe.com/podcast/2013/6/5/233-i-think-ive-wasted-my-life-the-grizzly-bear-egg-cafe.html and http://www.pwtorch.com/artman2/members/uploads/6/20130608SR.mp3 as sources.

The first source is as an audio clip of Clayton Morris, who is an established news presenter for Fox News Channel. In the clip, Morris states that CHIKARA is now out of business and that it is not a storyline. In the same audio clip, Mike Quackenbush, the founder of CHIKARA, states that CHIKARA is now out of business and that it is not a storyline. This source meets the reliable sources requirement.

The second source is an audio clip in which in which news reporter Sean Radican states that CHIKARA is now out of business and that it is not a storyline. Sean Radican is reporting for Pro Wrestling Torch, which has specifically been established by Wikipedia as a reliable source.

Almost every professional wrestling organization that has gone out of the business over the years did so without any official confirmation. People figured out that each organization had gone out of business because eventually no more shows ended up being held. Five examples of that trend are World Wrestling All-Stars, the United States Wrestling Association, the Xcitement Wrestling Federation, Xtreme Pro Wrestling, and Major League Wrestling. In fact, none of those five articles have any source backing up the year that the organization went out of business.

With CHIKARA, not only are there independent sources (Pro Wrestling Torch) confirming that the organization is no longer in business and that it is not a storyline, but there is also that same confirmation from the founder of the organization. More sources than are necessary and more sources than are commonly included in articles are being provided.

This also a change from the many recent edits to the article that have not provided any explanation in the form of edit summaries, have not provided any explanation in the form of entries on this talk page, and have not been rooted in Wikipedia policy.Turtlepump (talk) 16:29, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Did you even listen to your own sources? Neither of those state it is not storyline. In fact Radican (who is actually a DVD reviewer, not a news reporter) even says "to me it seems to be a part of a longterm Mike Quackenbush storyline". He even talks about hearing the company coming back before the end of the year. Meanwhile, Quackenbush and Morris absolutely have a reason to sell the storyline so their words can't be taken seriously. This isn't the first time Quack has kept it kayfabe in his podcast. Pro Wrestling Insider also states it appears to be a "massive angle". There's not a single source stating that Chikara is 100% dead and not coming back. And before at least one shows up, there's no defunct section. Most likely, Chikara takes the summer off and returns sometime before the end of the year. They wouldn't have spent all this time creating websites and Twitter accounts for nothing.Ribbon Salminen (talk) 18:21, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How about at least stating they are on hiatus or inactive? That's not unreasonable. The Twitter account (@chikarapro) hasn't updated since June 2nd, the website (ChikaraPro.com) doesn't resolve, and all of the wrestlers from their colorful cast of characters have taken bookings with different indie promotions. The whole John Titor thing may be a long term story arc, but there's two ways of looking at this - they either shut down with no explanation for a storyline to get people talking, or they shut down with no explanation because that was better than admitting they were knee deep in red ink. Until Quackenbush goes on record the site comes back up and they run a live event somewhere, the kayfabe and the reality are essentially one in the same. Mkjuon (talk) 20:22, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added a small bit in the history section about them being inactive at the moment.Ribbon Salminen (talk) 20:59, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello everybody and happy new year, I'm french and i heard about this angle that a french website (caq.fr for Catch Au Quotidien) call Ashes. Do you think this might deserve one day an article on wikipedia? I ask you i never see chikara matches (shame on me).--Sismarinho (talk) 15:30, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni[edit]

Is this section really needed, and if so, could it not be shortened, especially as many of the listed aren't notable enough to have their own article, soething which can be said of many of the sections in the article. 109.149.66.141 (talk) 19:34, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
