WikiProject Theatre Assessment[edit]

  • Stub class - no Synopsis (may be unavailable while the work remains unpublished) or Reception headings. Info should be arranged per WikiProject_Theatre/Article_Structure guidelines.
  • Low importance - a single play constitutes "a highly specific area of knowledge."

UK Premiere[edit]

Why is the list of actors in the UK premiere of this play important enough to be included? They had no influence on the play, were not chosen by the author, were not even the world premiere (which would at least give a bit more reason to include them). It is utterly trivial information (unlike the list of actors in a movie, where they are an integral part of the movie, and unlike plays written with one or more actors especially in mind). Because it's the premiere of a play shown in the home country of its author and - in addition - there is no info on the cast of the world premiere yet. Other play pages (such as Alibi) have both the UK West End and US Broadway casts. I fail to see the difference and I also fail to see any harm this info is doing on the page.--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 14:21, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Showing this bacuse we lack info on something else is a weak reason. Being in the home country is not really relevant. What importance have those people to the play? What more does anyone know about this play by having the cast of the UK premiere available? Does it add understanding? Indication of significance? Critical review, influence? A short sentence, genre "teh UK premiere of the play was then and there and directed by X" can be interesting, ifonly so people know that since the Canada show, it has also been shown in the UK, in case anyone wonders. But what possible use is there for anyone to know that some Martyn James played The Hon. George Lomax? Do you anything more about the play by adding this? Do you lack any information by removing this? We don't just add data beacuse they are correct, they must be relevant and informative as well. Other articles may have a better reason to include things, or just have not been scrutinized yet. I note that the example you give is another article where you added the cast, so that's not really an independent argument in your favour. Fram (talk) 14:47, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but my previous reasons remain.--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 17:34, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
