Basic Error of Fact[edit]

The third paragraph says "Its title was a reference to the Claim of Right Act 1689, an Act of the Parliament of Scotland which limited the power of the Scottish monarch (at the time, William and Mary) in much the same manner as the English Bill of Rights passed the same year.

I can't say I know about the English Bill of Rights, but this seriously misstates the purpose of the Claim of Right Act 1689. ^[1] http://www.legislation.gov.uk/aosp/1689/28/paragraph/p44

The Claim of Right Act 1689 is a list of complaints about James vii of Scotland (ii of England) the purpose of which was to justify deposing him and to legitimate replacing him as monarch with William & Mary. No source for the claim of right being responsible for devolution[edit]

The claim the ‘claim of right 1989’ was responsible for Scottish devolution in 1997 isn’t supported by the source nor is there any material to suggest it Newmate12 (talk) 13:35, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
