The link on the main page under Films takes you to a different film called Wild About Harry. The one it should relate to is on the IMDB link below, but it's not on Wikipedia, so does the link to the wrong page get removed? Contradiction[edit]

This article states that Colin Bateman's novel, Murphy's Law, is based on the TV programme. The Murphy's Law article states that the TV programme is based on the novel. They cannot both be true. 71.200.140.161 (talk) 20:43, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

From Colin Bateman: His book Murphy's Law was adapted from the BBC television series Murphy's Law (2001–2007), featuring James Nesbitt.

From Murphy's Law (novel): The novel was written when Bateman realised that the amount of material he had written for the TV series of the same name, exceeded what would make it into the series.

Stuff that is known but not in the article[edit]

Just a few things I think would add to the article but each time I add them they get taken out by someone who doesn't know what Wiki is for.

Currently working on a 'Starkey' tv series.
Wrote a script for a film version of 'Mohammad Maguire' but film is in limbo
He got back his first name for Fire and Brimstone. No longer known simply as 'Bateman'
The DEAD PASS is the 10th Dan Starkey though it is wrongly attributed as the 9th almost universally, and indeed has been quoted as such by the author himself.
Empire State was being made as a film until they found out that the Empire State Building has copyright and they needed permission to film there. And when the subject of the film's violence was aired it halted the progress indefinitely
Stated that it is highly unlikely 'Scup' would return for a third series
Doctor of Letters (DLitt) for services to literature. from University of Ulster.
He applied for a creative writing post at the University but wasn't given an interview because he 'didn't have a degree'
On July 13, 2013 he successfully funded a Kickstarter for his book of short stories, "Dublin Express"
In 2014 he produced a successful Kickstarter campaign to republish 'Titanic 2020' one of his favourite

e children's books which had gone out of print.

Earlier this year (2014) Colin's son Matthew went missing. There was concern as he had been suffering from mental health issues. He was found in safe and well six days later. The campaign to find him became national on the uptake of the Belfast Telegraph, a paper for which Bateman had previously worked.

I would do a total overhaul of the page, but I don't know how to do links for reference material

Where do you get this nonsense from. I am 'trying' to CONTRIBUTE. Not spam. You know this. You know that I am looking to improve the article, but you have been trolling me and this page for a long time now. I don't know where you get off. All I ask is that I am allowed to make edits where needed on articles I am highly knowledgeable about. A few *possibly interesting things...[edit]

+ a picture from the cover of 'Divorcing Jack' featuring a Nun holding a handgun has been spuriously published several times in national newspapers purported to being a photo of a female jihadi Islamic extremist.

+ His website (colinbateman.com) seems to have been snapped up by a domain prospector / broker as it dropped. It has a bunch of those random filler articles. I think the website got released when he was dropped? from / switched his publisher.

I might be wrong. Oddly there is no mention of Colin BUT the header seems to use a modified version of his old image there where he was in front of a brick wall somewhere in Belfast. The wall is there though the pic has been monochromed. Odd...

+ He's move publisher. None of his old books has been taken on or republished by them at this time.

+ He's just completed work on a film based on the DeLorean, the only car ever produced in NI called 'Driven' it has just 'wrapped' filming in South America?.

+ The Journey failed to get a UK distributor. :/ - It did get critically panned though.

+ Colin is notorious for his lack of research. Often asking Facebook followers questions and using the feedback.

+ After what seemed to be a protracted disagreement with one of his 'fans' a few years ago he took to posting private messages he has exchanged with the individual to his *public facebook wall. A common activity of internet users known as 'trolls' - similar to Doxxing.

+ article mentions wife. I understand he is now divorced?

+ He *was working on a tv series called 'Alice Glass' where the female protagonist was Bi Polar. + He *was working on a sitcom to feature James Nesbitt but this didn't come to fruition.

Starkey![edit]

+ Dan Starkey started out drinking Coke. Then a book later was drinking Pepsi. Then he went Diet coke then Pepsi and Coke and then just began to not drink coke at all

+ Dan Starkey has a habit of changing his preference of soft drinks. In one book he was an avid Coca Cola drinker. Another Pepsi. Then Dan went bonkers and started drinking Diet drinks. And then it just became random. Chapter to chapter he just drank either. MOST people are either Coke or Pepsi people. I am not saying drinking whatever is unheard of just unlikely. Especially as outside of pubs both are sold everywhere together.

+ In one book Dan Starkey is revealed to be an Olympic standard swimmer. This being right at the end of the book when this skill is required. This fact had never been mentioned in any of the other 9 books in the series.

+ In one novel the baddies are almost comic book like, in one scene they melt someone completely in a vat of acid. This is impossible and would need an incredible amount of acid.
