Relevance[edit]

Why would it be relevant to mention that this practice never existed in US? It is just listed where it was used, so by elimination it can be inferred that it was not used in other parts of contemporary EU than those mentioned, China, or Russia either. I've removed the sentence.

The result of this discussion was to Merge. Tevildo (talk) 17:49, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that Wager of Law be merged into Compurgation. The two articles cover the same subject matter, and there's useful content in both. Compurgation (or Proof by compurgation?) is probably the better title for the merged article, but this isn't a major issue. Tevildo (talk) 22:03, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

  • Support as nominator. Tevildo (talk) 22:03, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment There's also a merge proposal from James500 (supported by a banned user, unfortunately) from 2012 at Talk:Wager of Law. Tevildo (talk) 10:38, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The two articles are basically on the same topic. The "Wager of Law" article is actually a bit of a mess, with (as far as I can see) a lot of cut-and-paste passages and limited attempt at integration or understanding, and some atrocious (over-capitalised, misspelled and in some cases barely comprehensible) section heads; but behind all that there's some solid material, if somebody would only weave it all together. I've performed the merge. I've done some basic cleanup (capitalization, etc), but the article can still do with improvements along the lines mentioned by GrindtXX above. Tevildo (talk) 17:49, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal for Assach[edit]

Assach appears to be merely an example of Compurgation. I don't see the term needing a separate article. BD2412 T 06:34, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@User:BD2412 I agree so much that I've completed the merge. Joyous! | Talk 22:49, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
