Sources requiring registration[edit]

About using them as a reference: they are allowed to be used as a citation just not as an external link, this is from the EL policy page: "A site that requires registration or a subscription should not be linked unless the web site itself is the topic of the article or is being used as an inline reference." So it's fine, you can readd it. The Dominator (talk) 20:01, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks - Codharris (talk) 20:13, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why?[edit]

The Connecticut Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is no more notable than any other wing in the Civil Air Patrol. So why does it have its own page? As far as I know, this is the only Civil Air Patrol wing to have its own Wikipedia article. That simply does not make sense. Either 51 more Wikipedia articles need to be made for the 51 other wings, or this article should not exist. I'm not discounting the achievements of any of the individuals involved in Connecticut Wing or its corresponding squadrons/flights. I'm simply wondering as to why this wing has its own article, whereas there are no others. Perhaps somebody could answer that for me. scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 04:39, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Minnesota Wing has its own page, but my question still stands. scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 04:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess what I'm going to start doing is I'm going to start work on an article for my own wing. Hopefully people will start following suite and we'll get a larger number of contributors to make articles on their respective wings. scetoaux (talk) (My contributions.) 04:49, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) Well it's made it as a GA and stands a good chance of making FA. I don't know much about the Civil Air Patrol, but if you wish to write another fifty articles, go ahead. The Dominator (talk) 04:50, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to assume you're referring to Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol, since the article was just created. Feel free to use this article as a something of a template - I already see the similarity in the infobox. If this article makes FA, I'll come over and help out on MDWG as much as I can. It would be nice to see the remaining 49 Wings create WP pages, but I've been working on this article as practically a full-time job since December. I've logged nearly 350 edits on this article alone. Its a major project to undertake, but it's definitely worth it. Just a note - write about something truly notable in the Wing's history first. I didn't do this (now I have the Recognition and Accomplishments section), and the article was tagged for Speedy Deletion, and was deleted before I even saw the tag. Clearly the article has been expanded since then, but I don't want to see MDWG get speedily deleted. I think I'm going to create a subcategory in Civil Air Patrol entitled Wings of the Civil Air Patrol to help encourage other Wings to follow MNWG, CTWG and MDWG. Codharris (talk) 13:43, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've created the subcategory and added all three articles to it. I have also created an infobox template. Please see my sandbox, where I have included your information and added an image. Feel free to copy the code from that page or make any changes you see fit. On a side note, please add any further comments to the MDWG talk page, to avoid confusion of other Wikipedians. New commander as of Aug 2010[edit]

The current wing commander is Col Cassandra Huchko, and the vice commander is Lt Col Thomas Litwinczyk. I just got back from my CTWG Encampment on Sunday August 8, 2010, and I was informed of this change. Would someone mind making this change, please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TwilightKing81 (talkcontribs) 02:02, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
