I want to comment on Cpzphantom's contributions to this page. This user has posted erroneous information that diminishes the quality of the article. In order to clarify the situation, and to prevent this user to continue posting information that is wrong, I would like to contribute the following:

1. The parent company of Copa Airlines and AeroRepublica is Copa Holdings, S.A. not Copa Holdings, Inc. This company is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CPA.

2. Copa Airlines flies to 36 destinations in 21 countries (all of the company's press releases reveal this information).

3. Copa Airlines currently DOES NOT fly to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

4. Copa Airlines does not have and has never had a codeshare agreement with Iberia. In fact, its codeshare agreement with Continental Airlines does not include European destinations.

5. Copa Airlines does not have Boeing 737-200's in its fleet since 2005, the year when the last of these aircraft was sold. It does not operate 4 of these aircraft as cargo aircraft. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Schonbrunn (talkcontribs) 00:42, 20 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Response to Cpzphantom's comments on my edits to Copa Airlines[edit]

Cpzphantom, it seems to me that you have not understood that the point of this whole site is to provide information on different topics with the same type of credibility as an encyclopedia. Here are a few comments in italics on what you posted on my user talk. I'm reproducing here what you posted on my user talk with a few comments:


Well I see, however, some of your edits are also wrong as well.

First of all, Copa Airlines is one of American Airlines main enemies so that is true, also, American is in a hard ccompetition with copa airlines, so this facts are all accurate This is an opinion, not a fact. What do you mean by hard competition? Fleet size? Destinations? Passengers?

also, codeshare flights are counted as destinations so in total, they are 38 destinations. There you go again. Please, check Copa's press releases and you will find that they do not include codeshare flights as destinations. Codeshare flights to Newark and Houston are operated by Continental with Continental's aircraft.

Copa also offers red eye flights since I flew to JFK departing in 10:30 to 12:45 so those flights are real indeed. Technically, Red-Eye flights operate from 9:30 PM to 5:00 AM, local time. Copa Airlines flights to JFK and LAX depart Panama around 7:30 PM and arrive at their destinations around 12:00-1:00 AM (given the time differences). They do not qualify as red-eye's. If you flew to JFK departing at 10:30 to 12:45, then those flights are not "real indeed" because you did not fly Copa!

And finally, Copa is indeed one of the most advanced airlines around the world so erasing this is incorrect. Once again, opinion

My new facts are true[edit]

Adding that houston and newark are destinations of copa airlines under codeshare agreements with continental doesn't mean these facts are erroneus, also, then, why copa has agencies in all the world, also, copa is indeed an award winning airline and it has one of the most modern fleet, everything is on its webpage.

Removing "NYSE:CPA"[edit]

I'm removing the "NYSE:CPA" from Copa Airlines description because actually the company traded in the NYSE is Copa Holdings, the parent company and not Copa Airlines itself.

Actually, American airlines serves the same market as well and about the awards, copa is indeed an award-winning airlines so all you're facts aren't accurate. STOP EDITING CONTENT, WE WANT A FIRST CLASS ARTICLE.

I believe that we can reach an agreement. The only difference between those of us who edit content and, in many cases, revert your posts, is that we have not been blocked or banned from Wikipedia for copyright infringement. Nevertheless, even while blocked, you keep on posting information that a) Does not add any aggregate value to the article or b) it does not have the content that you would find in an encyclopedia article (not an advertising article). Your proficiency in English is also questionable given that most of your posts are most of the times hard to understand.

You are then harming the article, I'm a Panamanian and I flew the airline three times, my content indeed contributes with the details other airline articles have, making this article look like a low importance one, all my facts are true and they have a good value which will possibly atract other persons.

Also, Future Perfect at Sunrise doesn't have proof of my images being a infringement cause the copyvio link doesn't work

I just have a problem with some sections, that's all.

In the alliances section, you should add Gulfstream International Airlines since they're one of Copa's partner airlines.

In destinations add that Port Of Spain will be soon a destination, a Copa Airlines map has proof of this.

in affinity programs, try to clean up that zone since it has a list which needs some corrections.

what's up with award-winning, a mexicana de aviacion article has this and it isn't counted as publicitary content as you can see.

I'm just giving some things that are bad and if you don't correct them this article would be all corrupted, I knew that some edits from me were bad as well, but they're just plain errors that should be corrected and that's all, then, you corrected my errors, now realize that the article lacks some info which will give it a stronger reputation, that's all I want.

Hey, but that isn't original, it doesn't matter, do you want to go down as deep as those Mexicana people, just tellin' you something friend but, you have the reason on something the article is a little screwed up in the Skyteam partners section, sadly I created this account only four days ago, I'm a friend of him, and yes, Gulfstream and northwest are Copa's codeshare partners, you should edit these ones only, last, Port Of Spain, hey instead simply add the airline eventually will be adding more destinations and that's all. Gulfstream International has technically already been included in the airline affinity edit. Gulfstream is a regional carrier in Florida that operates its planes under the name Continental Connection. In the list of Copa Airlines's associates, it includes Continental Connection. This brandname also include several other small carriers that operate under this name.

As for Port of Spain, it is not included because there is no official recent press release stating when they will (if they will) start flying here. Since opening new destinations changes quite frequently, only those destinations that have been officially announced in company press releases should be included in the destinations page. Including a phrase like "the airline eventually will be adding more destinations" is implied, you don't have to say it because it adds no value.

I'll tell him about this, and yes, I also think the article was a little wrong since some facts have to do with official press revelation and that of "the airline eventually will be adding more destinations" is just a little off topic since its obvious that an airline will add new flights, but I'm pretty sure I also found a map signalign port of spain, it was in Copa's website, but, oh well, this article will only have current information that means that any future info not confirmed by human personal doesn't add content, didn't its so?

Outdated[edit]

The article is outdated, please update it, thanks.

Why is it outdated? It includes all the OFICIALLY ANNOUNCED destinations in the Copa Airlines page. The airline has not taken delivery of the new aircraft so there is no need to add them as part of the fleet.--Schonbrunn 01:14, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Imageless[edit]

The article should have images, does anyone has shots or photos for the article? Still add more, also write what's in the photo and add more content to the main summary at the top and add fleet accomodations and details.

Airline, flag or not[edit]

I found that some info, says that copa airlines is the national airline of panama, according to this sources.

though I don't want to concur with a vandal, I hate to say this but.

"In the airline industry, a focus city is a location that is not a hub, but from which the airline has flights to at least several destinations other than its hubs."

and as long as I know, COPA has offered flights from some destinations in Latin America others than its hub(s), and I saw those airports in the historial section of the page, they were indeed focus cities, focus cities doesn't need an official confirmation, eventually, hubs do, so I'm restoring this edits until a conflict is risen, if you have any problems, please contact me.

You are a blocked user in no position to make threats. A flag carrier is a STATE OWNED airline. Copa Holdings (and Copa Airlines for that matter) is a company traded in the New York Stock Exchange. Should we place more images[edit]

I have noted that Copa_air_logo.JPG and Copa_apr-7.JPG were removed, did someone has an explanation for this.

Incorrect information about service to Quito[edit]

This article states that Copa began service to Quito in 2001. I know that this is incorrect as I took a flight on Copa to Quito in 1997. Perhaps it is correct to say that it began non-stop service from PTY to UIO in 2001 but it did have scheduled service before that but the route was Panama-Guayaquil-Quito-Panama. Can someone please clarify this as I am not entirely sure about the year that this service began.

OnePass Partners[edit]

Although Copa uses OnePass, it does not share Continental's OnePass members. Copa has it's own agreements. You can check for example Virgin Atlantic's web page and Copa isn't mentioned as a Flying Club partner. Same thing for most of the ones listed like Alaska Airlines, EVA, et. al. Members of the other airlines frequent flier programs cannot accrue miles with Copa and to be called partners, it has to be reciprocal. Frapoz (talk) 23:48, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
