Whoops..Wikipedia says in the article: The Act was first enacted in 1921 and much of the text was taken from the British Copyright Act of 1911. (This previously unsigned comment was written by 24.215.124.23 in 2006.)

Merger proposal

I would think it would be better if a "history section was created on the canadian copyright page and this moved over there (as this page is so short) either completely, or as such that a subsection is created on that page that has the 'see main article' thing that redirects it to here.

• I dont agree with the merger. This page is for an important act of law; the other is for a complex concept as it is applied to Canada, which includes not just the act, but also case law. These articles will both grow in size. John Vandenberg ^(chat) 12:42, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. The Copyright Act is a specific piece of legislation. Canadian copyright law also includes case law and copyright-related legislation which does not amend the Copyright Act itself. I would be okay with moving around specific sections, but I believe that each topic should have its' own separate article. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 08:59, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
