Merge Costodiaphragmatic recess into Costophrenic angle[edit]

These subject appear to be essentially the same. There are more Google hits for "costophrenic angle" than for "costodiaphragmatic recess". Mikael Häggström (talk) 10:18, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge them. As a medical student, I can say the words costophrenic and costodiaphragmatic are used interchangeably. phrenic means "of or relating to the diaphragm).drusenthian 19:49, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Surely the costophrenic angle is a radiological term rather than an anatomical definition? If you want to merge them then the anatomical definition would be the proper title - with a subsection on radiological appearance of the costophrenic angle on CXR. You can merge them, but make the following clear: Cardiophrenic angle is a radiological term for a potential space between the heart and diaphragm. Costomediastinal recess is the live anatomy equivalent. Cardiodiaphragmatic angle is the radiological term for a potential space between the ribs and diaphragm. The Costodiaphragmatic recess is a potential space that is the live anatomy equivalent.
